As you’re packing, consider the weight of what you’ll be carrying. Please see the baggage section (coming soon!) for the airline size and weight limits. In addition, if you’re going to bring valuables (camera, mp3 player, etc), be prepared to carry them with you when we’re away from the compound.

Camera – you will be able to take pictures, but please be considerate. In the Indian villages or other places, people may not be comfortable initially. Wait until they are comfortable with us. And always ask permission.
Personal snacks like granola bars or trail mix so that you will always have something to snack on to get you through to the next meal. Don’t bring snacks (such as chocolate) that will melt!
Water bottle (around 20 oz) – this is very IMPORTANT…don’t forget it!
Air mattress with air pump
Blanket or sleeping bag
Pillow
Flashlight (small) and extra batteries
Toiletries, own towels and washcloths
Two to three rolls of toilet paper
Many t-shirts
Two or three pairs of capris, shorts (knee length), pants, or skirts.
Sweatshirt or two
Church outfit (Women: Dress pants, dresses, skirt, shoulders must be covered, skirts must be knee-length. Men: polo shirt or dress shirt and dress pants. Sandals will be fine at church, but no flip-flops. Remember, it will probably be quite warm.)
Swimsuit (Men: long swim trunks, Women: one piece or tankinis – must be very modest.)
Plenty of underclothes and socks!
Work clothes (gloves, pants, shirts)

Clothespins to use on clothes line to dry clothes

Medicine – Don’t forget your prescription medicines! In addition, suggestions for over-the-counter medications include Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Mylanta, and Pepto Bismol. Please bring medicine for motion sickness, such as Dramamine (or see your doctor), as we travel great distances by bus on twisty and turny roads.
