Have you ever said, “Why did I say that?” As I go back and look at my previous blog, “The Cage Fight,” I wonder what I was thinking. I’m sure Pastor Don laughed, knowing, girl, you don’t know what you just said!
I have put myself into the fight and have taken blows from the enemy that I would have never expected. I would love to tell you that I feel like I’m winning the fight, but the truth is I feel like I’m getting the TAR kicked out of me. It was not a blind confidence as I entered the ring, but I can tell you that I didn’t expect these kind of blows. But, after all, the devil does not fight fair. The devil is the father of all lies and an accuser of the brethren. He will rob us of relationships in our lives and steal our joy.
In the beginning of this year, I brought my 84-year-old father home to Michigan after he had lived 30 years in Florida. I had wanted my father to be able to live a long and healthy life in Florida until it was time to go and be with the Lord and my mother. But now that he is here, I battle obstacles that I had never thought of, and I cry out to God, “Why, why didn’t you take him home from the home he desired to be in?” God answered me by asking me a question, “Would you have wanted to base his eternity on if I took him from there?”
That’s when I realized that God’s plan all along was to bring him back here and restore what was broken in him so that he would find his place in eternity in heaven.
My dad is that precious to God. We are all that precious to God. He will put us in places of protection, direction, and restoration.
So the fight begins…
The enemy wars over the souls of man. He knows how God works. One soul could bring thousands more, but even just one was enough for the Son of God to die for.
Our mission trip is a very real opponent for the devil. He knows that our goal is to bring many into the knowledge of the Lord, to effect the lives of many, and to bring them to the places they need to be with the Lord.
In the meantime, I am surrounded by a very real enemy who throws blows. I get bloodied and bruised. I have decided to keep my eyes on the prize, my Lord Jesus Christ, and to do the work that he has planned in advance for me to do. Whether I stand or fall, it doesn’t matter. Whether I get a title or lose the fight, my God will have his way and the victory is ours.
1 Timothy 6:12: “Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”
